Shopping in Rome

It is not Black Friday here in Rome, but this is a post about shopping.

I love to shop. I love looking at beautiful things artfully arranged in a gorgeous space. After years living in places that had little to offer in the shopping realm, wandering in and out of stores is still entertainment for me.

I rarely buy much anymore, except for books and food, but that doesn't count does it? I am afraid this is going to change. Pretty dramatically. On an elegant side street just off the via del Corso two stores have quietly opened that for me are going to change everything about clothes shopping in Rome.

The chic clean lined basics at COS and the Anthroplogie like & Other Stories are like shopping kyrponite for me. All resolve is lost and I succumb to the Scandinavian spell.

My pal Elizabeth was the one who let me in on the secret last year when I went to London. I bought a pretty blush and some fun jewelry and regretfully did not buy a very chic Ann Demeulemeester-esque skirt. A quick trip to Amsterdam this past fall included more than one stop at COS where I found the perfect dress to get me through many diplomatic cocktail parties.

After you have have shopped until you are about to drop stop by Ginger for a big salad and a juice or Laduree for tea and plate of pastel macaroons. It will feel like you went on a mini-vacation.

  2. I really liked COS. I saw so many fantastic pieces.

Not feeling & Other Stories at all. Too H&M. From the distance the clothes and accessories looked great, then up close I noticed the poor quality.
