Classes and Shopping in Rome {C.R.E.T.A. Rome}

You probably still have christmas shopping left to do.  I know I do.  Last week's post is full of great ideas.  Here is one more.

There is a brand new ceramics studio and cultural association here in Rome.  It is located on the street level of a recently restored, 16th century Palazzo, in the heart of the Ghetto.

Created and run by scholar Lori-Ann Touchette and renowned artist Paolo Porelli, the choice of activities offered in this amazing space are many.

You can take general pottery classes which teach hand building and wheel techniques, or dig deeper and sign up for intensive ceramics courses and learn the ancient techniques like raku and lustreware.  In the Intensives you will play with the alchemy of glazes.

There are evening aperitivos and weekend brunches regularly organized for painting your own ceramic cups, bowls and plates.

So, sign up for a course for a friend or your children.  Make sure to stop by the beautiful space for the last of your holiday shopping to stock up on beautiful raku bowls, lustreware serving pieces or for the art lover in your life, a piece of sculpture or a painting, all created by Paolo Porelli.  There is something here for every pocketbook, age and taste.
