Angelina a Trevi {Eating in Rome}

Spring in Rome is the best. The city turns green again and the wisteria and then the jasmine smell amazing. It makes it very difficult to stay inside at my desk. A few afternoons ago I took a break from my screen and spent the morning shopping for baby gifts and new spring clothes and before I headed back inside stopped for lunch in the spring sunshine at Angelina. This is a great place in the food wasteland near the Tridente shopping area and the Fontana di Trevi.

I used to come here all the time. I would meet friends early in the morning and spend a few hours in a comfy leather chair chatting and cappuccino drinking the morning away. As happens in expat life, friends leave and routines change and suddenly it has been far too long since I have whiled away a few hours in a pretty cafe.

There are french cafe tables and chairs set up on the sidewalk and at lunchtime, there is a selection of sandwiches and salads to choose from. I had pizza bianca filled with brocoletti and mozzarella and my pal had a salmon tramazzini and a freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. They also serve an American style breakfast (that means eggs.)

I can also tell you that this is a lovely spot to sip a glass of wine in the late afternoon. Preferable when you really should be at your desk.
