Gardens and Prosecco {Rome}

In mid-September Rome starts to come back to life after the heat and quiet of August. For expats this means a flurry of cocktail parties and coffees with the various clubs, Associations and Academies to welcome new arrivals and welcome back longtime residents.

One of the first events of the season is The American Women's Association of Rome's annual garden party graciously hosted by the wife of the US Ambassador.  It is one of my favorite events of the year.

It's not everyday you get to spend the morning in the garden of a palace.

  1. What a perfect garden party! I loved this glimpse of the American ambassador's residence in Rome. I still dream of peeping into the Palazzo Farnese one of these days.

  2. @Ann - Totally doable now! http://inventerrome.com/index.php/palais-farnese/visiting-the-palazzo-farnese.

    The Alliance sometimes throws a costume ball for carnevale, in February. We went many years ago. It was one of the most magical evenings of my life. I was alone, at midnight, with a glass of champagne, in that magnificent room of Carracci frescos.

  4. So maybe the reason why employees from international shipping companies want to be posted to rome because of all the good stuff expats get.
