Coffee in Rome

Regular readers of my blog and anyone who knows me will not be surprised to read that I am creature of habit. Writing for a living can be lonely work. I am lucky to have a nearby neighbor who frequently forces me away from my screen and out into the world for a quick cup of coffee on many an afternoon. We chat about what we are working on and clear our heads by knocking back strong small cups of coffee to steel ourselves for a few more hours of typing. Usually we go to Er Baretto, a comfortable spot on via Boschetto. This being a new year and all and that it was only just beginning meant neither of us was quite off vacation time, so we switched things up and tried something new.

We headed to 2Periodico cafe. Now 2periodico is not all that new to the neighborhood. I have met friends here for a quick morning coffee, a late afternoon smoothie or an early evening Negroni. The vibe is hipster comfortable. The space is vast, meandering past the narrow bar and front room into a large but very cozy space in the back.

There are all kinds of comfy couches and chairs to sit, perfect for a long catch-up session with a pal. The artwork and products displayed on the walls is upcylcled design and much of it is for sale. There is also a small stage were there are regular live music and DJ performances.

After discussing our thoughts about the year that finished and our goals for 2014 it was time to actually get to work and start to put words on a page and thoughts into action.

On our way out we spotted a glass domed dish of filled bagel sandwiches. I think it is going to be a very good year.

  2. Lovely. Your coffee shops are better than our coffees shops.
